Our BRAIN is a well organized system for all the physical or mental activities performed by human body.. Sometimes it surprises us with its capabilities.. Many philosophers believe that our BRAIN & MIND are two separate things.. The BRAIN is a detector of MIND & MIND is an inner state of consciousness.. In ancient Greek,, some philosophers like Plato believes that the MIND acquire knowledge through virtue & have an independent sense of experience.. They also believed that our BRAIN gather information via reasoning & thinking..

Some other philosophers think differently that our MIND gather information or learn things with experience.. But some also believe on the fundamental fact that the knowledge depend on experience,, thinking,, reasoning & innate capabilities on our BRAIN..

When we see in ancient world,, we found there are 3 major thoughts which gives us a description on the relationship between the BRAIN & the MIND..

1.      Idealism
2.      Dualism
3.      Materialism

Behind any activity perform by our body there are many simultaneous & complex actions done by different parts of our BRAIN.. The anatomical divisions of the cerebral hemispheres are the Occipital Lobe devoted to vision,, & the Parietal Lobe dealing with movement,, position,, orientation & calculation.. Behind the ears Temporal Lobes lies which deals with sound & speech comprehension.. And to the fore are the Frontal & Prefrontal Lobes,, often considered the most highly developed and most "human" of regions,, dealing with the most complex activities like thought,, decision making,, planning,, conceptualising,, attention control and working memory.. They also deal with complex social emotions such as regret & sympathy..

Another way to classify the regions is as sensory & motor cortex which controls incoming information,, and outgoing behaviour respectively.. Below the cerebral hemispheres,, but still referred to as part of the FOREBRAIN,, is the cingulated cortex,, which deals with directing behaviour & pain.. And beneath this lies the corpus callosum,, which connects the two sides of the BRAIN.. Other important areas of the FOREBRAIN are the basal ganglia,, which is responsible for motivation,, movement & reward..

Our BRAIN has a processing capacity of 100 trillion instructions per second.. The computational power our BRAIN is difficult to ascertain,, as our BRAIN is not easily paralleled to the binary number processing of today's computers.. For example,, two large numbers can be multiply in a fraction of a second with the help of calculator or computer,, while we require a pen & paper to keep track of each stage of the calculation over a period of some seconds.. It is true that our BRAIN is calculating a math problem in an attentive state but it is subconsciously processing data from millions of nerve cells that handle the visual input of the paper and surrounding area.. Our BRAIN takes auditory input from our ears,, visual input from our eyes & the sensory input of millions of cells throughout the body.. Our BRAIN is regulating the heartbeat,, monitoring oxygen levels,, hunger and thirst requirements,, breathing patterns and hundreds of other essential factors throughout the day..

Our BRAIN is simultaneously comparing data from the eyes and sensory cells in the arms and hands to keep track of the position of the pen and paper as the calculation is being performed.. It quickly traverses a vast,, interconnected network of cells for relevant information on how to solve the problem,, what symbols to write and what their functions are,, as it graphs their shape and communicates to the hand how to make accurate and controlled strokes to draw recognizable shapes and numbers onto a page..

We always been fascinated with the famous personalities.. We always think about how their BRAIN so much creative.. Here are some facts about these famous BRAINS,, what the scientists knows:

Albert Einstein’s BRAIN was similar in size to other humans except in the region that is responsible for math and spatial perception.. In that region,, his BRAIN was 35% bigger than average..

Famous for knowing all the London streets by heart,, these drivers have a larger than normal hippocampus,, especially the drivers who have been on the job longest.. The study suggests that as people memorize more and more information,, this part of their BRAIN grows continuously..

Lenin’s BRAIN was studied after his death & found that it was abnormally large and numerous neurons in a particular region that may explain his personality for which he was famous..

A BRAIN thought to be more than 2000 years old was unearthed just recently at the University of York in northern England..

Daniel Tammet is an autistic savant who,, since the age of 3 year when he suffered an epileptic seizure,, has been able to perform astounding mathematical computations,, knows seven languages,, and is developing a language of his own..

Famous jazz musician Keith Jarett was discovered at age 3 to have perfect pitch,, scientists found that ability in the right frontal lobe of  his BRAIN..

Our BRAIN has amazed and puzzled people throughout the ages.. It is no wonder that people enjoy learning facts about this incredible organ in the human body.. From blinking to laugh to thoughts, here is some fun & interesting facts about the BRAIN are:

Each time we blink our BRAIN kicks in & keeps things illuminated so the whole world doesn’t go dark each time we blink (about 20,,000 times a day)..

Laughing at a joke is no simple task as it requires complex activities in 5 different areas of our BRAIN..

Harvard maintains a BRAIN Bank where over 7,,000 human BRAINs are store for research purposes..

Music lessons have shown to considerably boost our BRAIN ability & organization..

The average number of thoughts that humans are believed to experience each day is 70,,000..

The word "BRAIN" appears 66 times in the plays of William Shakespeare..

Our dreams have an amazing world.. These dreams lie in the depth of our BRAIN.. Some interesting facts about this amazing world of dreams and what happens during sleep are:

1.      Dreams are more than just visual images,, and blind people do dream.. Whether or not they dream in pictures depends on if they were born blind or lost their vision later..

2.      Just because we don’t remember our dreams doesn’t mean we don’t dream..

3.      Most people dream about 1-2 hours a night and have an average of 4-7 dreams each night..

4.      Some studies show that BRAIN waves are more active while dreaming than when we are awake..

5.      5 minutes after a dream,, half of the dream is forgotten.. Ten minutes after a dream,, over 90% is forgotten..

6.      As those who invest in dream dictionaries can attest,, dreams almost never represent what they actually are.. The unconscious mind strives to make connections with concepts you will understand,, so dreams are largely symbolic representations..

7.      Researchers from Japan have successfully developed a technology that can put thoughts on a screen and may soon be able to screen people’s dreams..

Our BRAIN has amazed and puzzled people throughout the ages.... Some scientists have devoted their entire lives to learning how the BRAIN works.... It is no wonder that people enjoy learning facts about this incredible organ in the human body.... Some amazing & interesting facts about the BRAIN are:

We can’t tickle because our BRAIN distinguished between unexpected external touch and our own touch..

Scientists discovered that BRAINS of different sexes react differently to pain,, which explains why they may perceive or discuss pain differently..

Supertasters are not only having more taste buds on the tongue,, but their BRAINS are more sensitive to the tastes of foods and drinks.. That is why they can detect some flavours that others cannot..

The connection between body and mind is a strong one.. One estimate is that between 50-70% of visits to the doctor for physical ailments are attributed to psychological factors..

Every time we recall a memory or have a new thought,, actually we are creating a new connection in our BRAIN..

While we sleep at night may be the best time for our BRAIN to consolidate all our memories from the day.. Lack of sleep may actually hurt our ability to create new memories..

A world champion memorizer,, Ben Pridmore memorized 96 historical events in 5 minutes and memorized a single,, shuffled deck of cards in 26..28 seconds..

Our BRAIN has amazed and puzzled people throughout the ages.. Some scientists have devoted their entire life to learn how the BRAIN works.. It is no wonder that people enjoy learning facts about this incredible organ in the human body.. Some amazing & interesting facts about the BRAIN are:

Our BRAIN uses 20% of the total oxygen in our body..

Our BRAIN uses 20% of the blood circulating in our body..

If our BRAIN loses blood for 8 to 10 seconds,, we will lose consciousness..

Information can be processed as slowly as 0..5 meters/sec (1..18mph) or as fast as 120 meters/sec we can say about 268 miles/hr..

While awake,, our BRAIN generates10 to 23 watts of power that is enough energy to power a light bulb..

The neocortex makes up about 76% of the human BRAIN and is responsible for language and consciousness.. The human neocortex is much larger than in animals..

The BRAIN can live for 4 to 6 minutes without oxygen,, and then it begins to die.. No oxygen for 5 to 10 minutes will result in permanent BRAIN damage..

Excessive stress has shown to "alter BRAIN cells,, BRAIN structure and BRAIN function.."

A study of one million students in New York showed that students who ate lunch that did not include artificial flavours,, preservatives,, and dyes did 14% better on IQ tests than students who ate lunch with these additives..

The cerebrum is the largest part of our BRAIN and is largely made up of the two Hemispheres.. It is the most evolutionary BRAIN structure,, dealing with more complex cognitive BRAIN activities..

It is often said that the Right Hemisphere is more creative and emotional and the Left Hemisphere deals with logic,, but the reality is more complex.. Both Hemispheres do have specialized in some activities,, the Left Hemisphere dealing with language & speech,, the Right Hemisphere with spatial – visual and body awareness..

Signals between neurons are formed by electro-chemicals.. These pulses can be detected by EEG.. They have wave like patterns,, classify alpha through to gamma rays.. According to some scientists that synchronizing the activity in different BRAIN regions is important in perception.. Other techniques like PET monitors the blood flow & MRI,, CT use the magnetic signatures of different tissues or movement of molecules to image the BRAIN.. These techniques were help to reveal the association of different parts of BRAIN with different functions..
